Salty Shadows by Sue Hill.   This beach front scene was inspired by a visit early in the year by Sue to the historic tourist town of Russell (Kororareka) in the Bay of Islands NZ.  There is a tree-lined pathway along the beachfront in front of some of NZ’s oldest original buildings dating back to 1843.

(Russell was known for ‘it’s most notable anchorage’ by Captain Cook in the 1800s.   It was once a whaling and sealing operating station for the British and Americans and the local Maoris traded with the ships that anchored in the bay supplying fresh food, timber, and prostitution.

Sue has painted this in an impressionistic manner intending to show the peacefulness of the sea-front town.   The painting is signed on the back and it is wired and ready to hang.  The sides are painted black.
