Sue was inspired to paint these trees after seeing the dramatic shapes of bare tree branches against a very blue sky.
Sue painted this decorative scene of twisted bare trees on three coloured panels of acrylic colour –turquoise green, purple and yellow/orange. She drew the shapes of the trees on paper and copied the same shape onto each of the three coloured panels. Where the colour panels meet she drew a pair of tree shapes to cover over both the joins of colour. The sides of the painting are parts of the latter shape.
The panels graduate from being a light base to a darker sky and largely the colours used on the trees are opposite colours to those of their background adding a sense of drama and impact. This painting would brighten any wall space.
