Bustard Head Lighthouse

$880.00

ACRYLIC ON CANVAS

Unframed 60.6cm x 60.6cm

This square acrylic painting is based on a photographic reference Sue took of Bustard Head lighthouse, Cape Moreton, walking up through the trees from the cemetery.

‘Bustard Head lighthouse was named by Captain James Cook in 1770 in honor of a bustard which was shot and eaten by the landing party’.

The lighthouse was automated during 1985-86 and is presently being maintained by a volunteer organization.

Sue enjoyed a guided tour of this isolated heritage-listed lighthouse, which is 20 kms northwest of the town of Seventeen Seventy in 2021.

The painting is sealed with satin-varnish and the sides are painted black.   It is wired and ready for hanging and is signed on the back.
