This acrylic/mixed media flower is painted in portrait format. Sue primed the canvas with tissue paper to give the appearance of a textured surface before applying the paint.
Bauhinias grow in tropical countries and are the floral emblem of Hong Kong. Sue noticed these prolific flowering trees on the street while out walking around Brisbane suburbs and was instantly drawn to their vivid mauves and pinks and contrasting grey-green leaves.
The painting is sealed with a satin varnish. The sides are painted black and it is signed on the back of the canvas. It is wired and ready to hang.
