Sue was born in England, raised in Central Africa and she has been living in Australia for forty years. She has lived in Western Australia, South Australia and now lives in Brisbane.
Sue was first introduced to art when she was young by her mother a botanical artist who worked in water colour.
Sue likes to tell a story in her painting and likes to bring pleasure to the viewer. In her compositions she enjoys using rich colours in layers and washes, usually working from dark to light to bring dimension to her paintings. Sue’s works are quite diverse, and she is comfortable in several mediums, but she particularly enjoys painting on stretched canvas. She likes to work primarily from elements caught in photographs and loves to delve into her travel experiences both within Australia and abroad.
Sue’s formal art education began part-time at TAFE in Perth when her children attended school. This train of education was disrupted by several family interstate re-locations with her family. However, she has been fortunate to experience and be influenced by various teachers, art workshops and classes. She loves the challenge of creating and learning new skills. She paints part-time from her home in Brisbane. Sue sells her work online and in the past at various exhibitions both in Australia and overseas.
