Swing – by Sue Hill. The subject of this colourful square painting is of kids on a park swing. Sue was inspired to paint this having witnessed children in a local park having wonderful fun on a disc-type swing. Sue’s aim was to create a sense of innocent joy. She has added a triangular area of yellow canvas above the children and a grassy triangular area under the swing which is designed to highlight the focal area of the group on the swing. She has created a sense of movement with the sway of the children’s hair and by extending the stripes on one of the boy’s shirts. In the background area there is another area of park equipment on which other kids are playing. Beyond them is a grassy area, the beach and the ocean, all of which give the cameo a sense of youth innocence and freedom.
This square acrylic painting is signed on the back and is ready to hang. The sides are painting black and both front and sides are sealed with universal medium.
