The Wood Gatherers

This textured landscape is in portrait format and is painted in mixed media and acrylic. Sue used crumpled tissue paper to paste over the surface before beginning the painting in acrylics to give the surface texture and to break up the linear work.
The inspiration for it came after a visit to northern India where Sue visited a haunted village. She was fascinated by the local women who went out foraging in the bush for firewood and made a wide detour around the building seen in the background. They believed nasty accidents or illness would befall any person going near the building. This building and several other amazing villages in India are said to be haunted and they are abandoned.
The painting is signed on the back and ready to hang. The sides are painted black.
